Product Introduction
C11000 Electrolytic Tough Pitch (ETP) Copper is produced by the direct conversion of selected refined cathodes and castings under carefully controlled conditions to prevent contamination of the pure oxygen-free metal during processing. The method of producing OFHC copper ensures extra high grade of metal with a copper content of 99.99%. With so small a content of extraneous elements, the inherent properties of elemental copper are brought forth to a high degree.
This is the most common copper. It is universal for electrical applications. ETP has a minimum conductivity rating of 100% IACS and is required to be 99.9% pure. It has 0.02% to 0.04% oxygen content (typical). Most ETP sold today will meet or exceed the 101% IACS specification. As with OF copper, silver (Ag) content is counted as copper (Cu) for purity purposes.
Standards and Specifications:
C11000 copper complies with several international standards and specifications, including ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards and the UNS (Unified Numbering System), ensuring consistent quality and reliability.
Copper (Cu): Approximately 99.90% minimum
Other Elements: The remaining composition consists of trace amounts of various impurities, including:
Oxygen (O): Usually present in very low levels, typically less than 0.04%
Phosphorus (P): Also present in trace amounts, generally less than 0.02%
Lead (Pb), Iron (Fe), Sulfur (S), and other impurities: These are kept at minimal levels to maintain the high purity required for electrical conductivity.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION(%max., unless shown as range or min.)
Cu value includes Ag.
Note: This is a high conductivity copper which has, in the annealed condition a minimum concuctivity of 100% IACS except for Alloy C10100 which has a minimum conductivity of 101% IACS.
Note: Oxygen and trace elements may vary depending on the process.
Composition and Purity:
C11000 copper is highly pure, typically containing approximately 99.9% copper (Cu).
It may also contain trace amounts of other elements like phosphorus (P) and oxygen (O), but these are kept at very low levels to maintain the high purity required for electrical conductivity.
Physical Properties:
Electrical Conductivity: C11000 copper exhibits excellent electrical conductivity, making it ideal for electrical and electronic applications where efficient transmission of electricity is essential.
Thermal Conductivity: It also has good thermal conductivity, allowing it to effectively transfer heat, which is beneficial in applications such as heat exchangers and cooling systems.
Malleability and Ductility: This grade of copper is highly malleable and ductile, meaning it can be easily formed into various shapes and sizes through processes like drawing, bending, and stamping.
Application
Electrical and Electronic Applications: C11000 copper is used extensively in the production of electrical wiring, cables, busbars, connectors, and various electronic components where its superior conductivity is crucial.
Industrial Applications: It is also employed in industries such as construction (for plumbing and HVAC systems), automotive (for radiators and heat exchangers), and manufacturing (for machining parts and equipment).
